$80,000
RAISED!
Pedal for the Petal Spinning® Marathon
at Eco Fitness HUGE SUCCESS!

On March 7th, 2009, 8am at ECO Fitness in
Mt. Pleasant, SC the 2nd annual Spinning Marathon was held to raise money for Pattison's
Academy Summer Program. Financially, we hoped to raise what we raised last year - $40,000. Because of
the economy, we were hesitant to set the goal so high, but everyone said you never look back and you don't
reach for less.
The people at ECO Fitness believe, "if
you can change your body, you can change the world."
With that ambition and purpose in mind, THEY DID
IT!
By all accounts the day was a huge success financially with the on-line
and off-line donations coming in, but what made it even more successful was the amount of HOPE that was raised.
In a time when people are struggling, everyone gave what they could (from the little boy who brought in his
piggy bank to the $5000 annonymous donation). An entire community came together and raised HOPE where there was
little. It went beyond goals, numbers, and money. HOPE was something we had dared not include our goal, but it
found its way in and made a "fundraising event" more of an experience in the power of community. And for that,
we cannot thank our community or ECO Fitness enough.
This year we used Firstgiving.com to assist us with on-line fundraising.
Check out our event page at Firstgiving.com for
more information and to see who participated. Our campers got involved and worked together as a team to
raise over $10,000.
Just to give you an idea of how much it costs and how much you can still
help, $185 will pay for a child to attend our summer therapy program for one day. $925 pays for
one week. $2100 pays for a child to attend 5 weeks of camp. This is a program where children receive DAILY
physical, occupational and speech therapies. They are engaged in FUN and educational activities and
participate in the communty around them by going on twice weekly field trips. The adult to camper ratio is
generally 1 adult to 2 children in order to ensure safety. So when you look at the staffing, the activities,
the supplies and the benefit to these children and the community, it is a BARGAIN!
