Pattison's Academy
Pattison's Academy and Summer Camp is developing in 4 phases. Currently we are in phase two of this development plan.
The school
The school will offer exceptional team-based, year-round academics and pediatric therapy and rehabilitation for children with multiple and
severe disabilities ranging in age from 2 to 12. The hours will be from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. The
students will participate in community based instruction, field trips, and outside therapy services that are not typically offered in the area's
public schools or in traditional medical facilities. No facility in the tri-county area offers the type of all-inclusive, parent friendly
and potential-maximizing services (educationally and medically) that Pattison's Academy will offer.
We operated a 4 week summer school in 2006 and served 14 different children. For 2007, we expanded
our program to operate for 5 weeks in two sessions and served 34 children. Pattison's Academy Summer School provides therapy,
enrichment and FUN for the children and a nice break for the care givers of these children. If you are interested in sending your child to
our 2008 summer program, please send complete an application on-line or download application one now.
Phase One - Complete!
The goals for phase one are listed below.
- Incorporate Pattison's Academy as a non-profit in the State of South Carolina (Complete)
- Obtain Employer Identification Number (Complete)
- Establish draft of by-laws (Complete)
- Gain 501 (c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service (Complete)
- Build a board of directors (Complete)
- Establish billing system for insurance and Medicaid (Complete)
- Create/project budgets (Complete)
Phase Two - On Going!
Phase two focuses primarily on establishing a summer program. This program will build awareness in the community about our project,
help to establish a physician referral base, and provide therapeutic and enrichment programs for children with multiple disabilities ranging in
age from 2 to 12 years. (Complete)
Also in phase two we will be fundraising and grant writing, testing the market feasibility for tuition rates at the Academy and establishing
protocols for feedings, medications, and transportation to and from field trips.
During phase two, we will also begin fundraising for the first two years' operations budgets for the Academy. We will proceed to phase
three once we reach that goal.
Phase Three - In Progress!
During phase three, we will be looking for a permanent facility for the Academy and opening the school for approximately 8 children with the
ability to accept two additional children for post-operative rehabilitation. We will also look to contract with a speech therapist, medical
director and then hire Kimberly Wilson as the full-time special education teacher.
We are currently conducting a search for a full time Executive Director who will be responsible for getting our school program operational.
Phase Four
In the fourth phase, the goal is to expand the permanent facility's capacity to serve 30 - 40 children by hiring more therapists and teachers
and grow our funding base.
