ARE YOU READY FOR THE SUMMER?

Riding Water Front Park July 4

Our 4th annual summer camp was held this year at North Charleston Elementary School (near Park Circle in North Charleston).  We held the first ever summer camp in 2006 at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church and served 14 children  By our third year in 2008, we needed to expand our services to children in Summerville.  So we split our sessions up and held one session Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church and another one at Bethany United Methodist Church of Summerville.  in 2009 44 children from around the Lowcountry participated in very active days of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and field trips for 5 weeks.  Without the love and support of these two churches, their gratious congregations and their dedicated staff, we would not be where we are today. They opened their doors and their hearts and gave us a start and we will forever be grateful.

We have more pictures from past camps than we can ever show you.  You can check out our busy 09 schedule for yourself and pictures from our 2009 camp.

As in past sessions, we partnered with, collaborate and share resources from the following organizations.  They have worked with us to provide the best for these children and will continue to be a part of our organization as we grow.

  • MUSC PT, OT, CSD students and faculty – Your involvement is critical to the success of our camp. Students from MUSC come to camp to observe and participate with the children in order to gain hands on experience working with children of multiple and severe disabilities.
  • Rein and Shine Staff and Volunteers – As in the past, we will again be using Rein and Shine for our therapeutic riding and hippotherapy needs during camp. They are willing to go above and beyond what is expected.
  • Pattison’s Academy Board Members – Your support has always been overwhelming.
  • Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church – The graciousness you exhibited by letting Pattison’s Academy use your wonderful facility was only surpassed by your hospitality and support. What a wonderful church with wonderful people!
  • The Rural Transporation Management Association (Tri County Link)– A very professional group of people who far exceed our expectations year after year concerning our transporation needs.
  • Bethany United Methodist Church of Summerville - The staff and the members of the church made us feel very welcome.  This very generous church is also starting a Sunday program for children with special needs.  Please contact them for more information.
  • Orangeburg/Calhoun Technical College Nursing students – A group students who drives from Orangeburg to be a part of our camp each year. Thank you for your involvement and help.  You went above and beyond and we appreciate what you did for the children and us.
  • Jane Hirsch and the K-9 Care Unit – Our children loved your sweet dogs and we appreciate your time and willingness to visit us.
  • The Hat Ladies of Charleston – Thank you for taking the time to come make some hats with us while sharing your impeccable sense of style.
  • Stella Nova - Everyone who came was so wonderful to our campers and did a great job to make sure that every child got a great little spa treatment and felt pampered.  We could tell you really enjoyed what you were doing and the children enjoyed it even more.
