Voices heard through music

Music therapy is a highlight for our children every week! During the month of March, our music therapy team used the March Madness concept to incorporate seasonal fun with favorite songs from movies. From hits like "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story, to "Happy" from Despicable Me, and "I like to Move It" from Madagascar, our children made their voices heard by choosing their favorite song to win our very own version of March Madness. Our music therapists, from Noteworthy Music Therapy, made a song bracket and led the students in selecting their favorite song in multiple head-to-head matchups. Students cast their votes using their voices by way of their individual communication devices. Music Therapy brings joy to our children and provides them with an opportunity to make their voices heard through music!

Music therapy is beneficial and fun! We incorporate motor skills by playing instruments, expressing our opinions by choosing songs we like best, and learning about different styles of music from the past and present.
